Common Questions

What is the difference between Meural Canvas I and Meural Canvas II?

The Meural Canvas II offers more frame colors and sizes to choose from, including a light brown (birch) color and a 16 x 24 inch frame with a 21.5 inch display. Meural Canvas II has an improved ambient light sensor and optimizes your artwork backlighting to best fit the light conditions in your room. For a more in-depth comparison of the two products, please refer to this article.

Can I display my own images on the Meural Canvas II?

Absolutely! You can do this one of three ways. Go to or use the Meural app (iOS and Android) to upload to your account. You’ll then be able to crop and optimize them to look best on your Canvas. You can upload single images or an entire batch at once. If you want to upload directly to the Meural Canvas, you can insert a micro SD (Leonora or Winslow Canvas styles) or standard SD card (Canvas II) on the back or side of the Canvas (location is dependent on Canvas model).

Does the Canvas II need to be plugged in at all times?

Yes. The Canvas II comes with a power cord and needs to be powered at all times. The Canvas is UL certified and optimized for efficient power consumption, using approximately 20 watts (less than a common light bulb).

How do you recommend I hide the cord?

We’ve seen a wide range of ways to manage or hide the cord. It can be positioned behind furniture, masked with a plastic cord cover, or with the help of a licensed electrician concealed with an in-wall outlet. We’re actively expanding our accessory line with new cord management options in development.

Does any art come with the Meural Canvas?

Yes. The Meural Canvas comes with 100 curated images from Meural’s art library, ranging from classic to modern art. Some of the images are preloaded, though additional Sampler playlists can be downloaded. See the Sampler images here. To gain access to our entire art library (over 30,000 images), you’ll need a Meural Membership.
